The parliamentary opposition (Armenian National Congress, Prosperous Armenia and Heritage) has refused to negotiate with the Government on its 12 proposals to improve the social-economic situation in Armenia, the head of the parliamentary group of Armenian National Congress Levon Zurabyan told journalists on Wednesday.
"We see no sense in negotiations. The regime is trying to involve us in long senseless talks so as to gain time and to be able to beat down the growing national movement. If it actually wished to implement our proposals, it would do it without negotiations," Zurabyan said.
He said that the opposition will give the Government a chance: "We are going to suggest convoking a special parliamentary session for considering our 10th proposal concerning electoral reforms, more specifically, transition to 100% proportional election system. The regime can do this by just one signature. This will be a chance for it to prove that it can keep its promises," Zaurabyan said.
