Armenia and Russia are concerned about the attempts to speculate on the Podolsk tragedy and to kindle moods that are contrary to the Russian-Armenian friendship, Russia's Foreign Ministry said following the Friday meeting of Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigory Karasin and Armenian Ambassador to Russia Oleg Yesayan.
ITAR-TASS quotes the source as saying that Karasin and Yesayan discussed the last accident in Podolsk and Yesayan extended deep condolences to the families of those killed in it.
Karasin confirmed that the accident would be investigated, with the rights of the Armenian citizen accused of causing it would be respected.
To remind, a Kamaz driven by Armenian citizen Hrachya Harutyunyan collided with a passenger bus near the Russian town of Podolsk on July 13. 18 of the 64 bus passengers were killed. Harutyunyan will be in custody in Russia till Sept 13. If found guilty, he may be sent to jail for seven years.
To note, Harutyunyan was brought to court in a housecoat and slippers – a fact that raised a wave of protests among the Armenians worldwide.
