Police is behind the attack on the activists picketing the Yerevan Municipality by a group of unknown, an activist Suren Sahakyan told media, Monday. He explained that the police do nothing to inquire into the incident.
Activists staging a sit-down protest in front of the Yerevan Municipality were beaten up by a group of 10 unknown people overnight. The unknown attacked activists Mihran Margaryan and Babken Ter-Grigoryan, stole the latter's phone and passport and demanded the activists to stop the protest against their 'fathers.' The activities applied to the police.
Sahakyan is sure that the police are well informed who attacked the activists and back them. "The thirty days of our picket and the incidents throughout that period show that the law-enforcement has made a deal with the municipality," Sahakyan said.
"Let's Pay 100 AMD" Movement activists have been picketing the Municipality for a long time already demanding the city authorities to cancel their decision to increase the transport fare and dismiss Henrik Navasardyan, Head of the Municipal Transport Department, and Misak Hambarstoumyan, Director of YerevanTrans Company.
