The Armenian Parliament approved on Wednesday draft amendments to the law on TV and radio prohibiting commercials on Public Television of Armenia.
Armenia's Justice Minister Hrayr Tovmasyan said that this will make the Public TV Company of Armenia independent from advertisers and will give it more airtime for socially significant programs.
The opposition MPs were against the bill though. They said that this ban will give the President's son-in-law Mikael Minasyan a monopoly on the country's advertising market.
