Tbilisi. Nino Burjanadze, the ex-speaker of the Georgian
Parliament, candidate for presidency from the oppositional party Democratic
Movement-United Georgia is sure that she will struggle with candidate from the
ruling coalition Georgian Dream Georgi Margvelashvili for the post of the head
of the state if the second round of the elections is set up.
23 candidates will participate in the
presidential elections in Georgia on October 27. Representative of the former
ruling party United National Movement David Bakradze is among them.
"I really know that in the worst case
the second round will be conducted, where I and Mr. Margvelashvili will
struggle for presidency", Burjanadze stated at the press-conference on
Tuesday, October 15.
Burjanadze expressed assurance in her
victory if the elections were conducted fairly and freely.
"I demand from the authorities to
conduct fair and democratic elections
and in this case I am sure of my victory. If fair and free elections are
conducted, I will have no claims, but if there are attempts to rig the
elections, we will fix it and react adequately", Burjanadze noted.
