Armenian Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan is concerned over detention of so many people on 2 December.
The human rights defender has disseminated a statement saying that the Ombdusman's Office received 30 calls over detentions of activists. The representatives of the human rights defender met with over 60 citizens at police stations in Yerevan.
"In some cases, lawyers of the detainees were allowed to enter police stations only after our employees interfered with the problem. In some other cases, our employees managed to prevent detentions," the human rights defender says in the statement.
"It is evident that actions of some police officers were controversial and even inexcusable," the statement reads.
To recall, the Police detained over 110 activists protesting against the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Armenia.
