Tbilisi. Georgia has passed a protest note to Russia via the
Swiss Embassy in connection with RF President Vladimir Putin's visit to
Abkhazia - Georgian Foreign Minister, Maia Panjikidze, briefed journalists in
Tbilisi, on Monday, August 26.
RF President, Vladimir Putin, was on a
working visit to Georgia's breakaway region of Abkhazia on Sunday, August 25.
During the visit, he met with de-facto Abkhaz leader, Alexander Ankvab, in
Pitsunda (Geo. Bichvinta). Celebrations
timed to coincide with the fifth anniversary of recognition of the independence
of Abkhazia by the Russian Federation will begin in Abkhazia on Monday.
"Of course, we condemn that (visit),
since this is another infringement of the territorial integrity and sovereignty
of Georgia," Panjikidze stressed.
