Tbilisi. Crime rate dropped by 25,7% in 2013, as compared with the data of 2012 - Georgian Ministry of Interior's (MoI) press service reported on Thursday, January 9.
According to the Georgian MoI, resolved criminal cases rate increased by 40,9% and made 59,9% as of 2013.
Georgian Interior Ministry also released statistical data for criminal cases committed in December 2013, throughout the country and in regions, separately. As of December 2013, the number of criminal cases countrywide dropped by 1470, that is by 36,9%; while the number of resolved cases increased by 27,4% and made 50,2% as compared with the same period of 2012.
Overall 28 970 criminal offences were committed in Georgia in 2013. 17 339 cases were resolved.
At the same time, nearly half of criminal offences (14 thousand 033) were committed in Tbilisi. 6 494 criminal cases were resolved in Tbilisi (46,3%). It is noteworthy that the number of criminal offences in Tbilisi dropped by 2 512 (15,2%) as compared with 2012. The number of resolved cases in Tbilisi decreased by 27%.
As for Georgian regions, Imereti and Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti are leading as to number of crimes committed in 2013 (2 811). The number of criminal cases dropped by 2 804 (49,9%) in those regions as compared with 2012, while the resolved cases rate increased by 63,5%.
In Kvemo Kartli region the number of criminal offences made 1 983 in 2013; resolved cases rate made 61%. Crime rate in Kvemo Kartli region dropped by 57,1% in 2013, as compared with 2012; while the resolved cases rate increased by 50%. As for Samegrelo-Zemo (Upper) Svaneti region, 1521 criminal offences were committed in this region in 2013, 1102 cases (72,4%) were resolved. Crime rate in the aforesaid region declined by 1 248 (45,1%), while resolved cases rate increased by 51,9% as against 2012.
As for Adjara AR, the number of criminal offences made 2 947; resolved cases rate made 66,5%. Crime rate in Adjara AR in 2013 dropped by 15,4% as compared to 2012, while the resolved cases rate increased by 55,5%.
According to the Georgian MoI, the number of criminal offences in Shida Kartli region made 1 395 in 2013. Crime rate in this region dropped by 11,9% in 2013, while resolved cases rate increased by 45,6% as against 2012.
Then come: Mtskheta-Mtianeti (844 crimes; resolved cases rate - 70,6%; crime rate dropped by 8,2%; resolved cases rate increased by 53,5%); Guria (619 cases, including 357 (57%) - resolved cases; crime rate dropped by 7,6%; resolved cases rate increased by 32,7%); Samtskhe-Javakheti (796 cases; resolved cases rate - 79,9%; crime rate increased by 24,6%; resolved cases rate increased by 28,1%).
Overall 2 511 criminal offences were registered in the country in December 2013, including 1 260 (50,2%) - resolved cases. Crime rate in the country dropped by 36,9%, while resolved cases rate increased by 24,4% in December 2013, as against the same period of 2012.
