The meeting of ICRC representatives with POW Hakob Injighulyan will become possible once the Armenian and Azerbaijani authorities reach a relevant agreement, representative of the ICRC Baku Office Illaha Guseynova told GALA TV channel on Thursday.
"The parties are still negotiating, and we expect them to come to terms," she said, adding that if the Azerbaijan authorities decide that there can be such a meeting, her office will help to arrange it.
Guseynova said that her office is watching how Injighulyan is being kept and is seeing to it that no violation of the international humanitarian law is allowed, but it is not authorized to make public the results of its observations.
"We are meeting with the leaders of both countries and will let them know should any violation be recorded," Guseynova said.
When asked by ArmInfo if they were meeting with the Armenian leaders concerning Injighulyan, they in the ICRC Yerevan Office said that Armenia's Defense Ministry had asked them to do their best to bring the POW back. They refused to comment on Guseynova's statements.
Meanwhile, Injighulyan's relatives have gathered in front of the Foreign Ministry building and want to see Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan.
Injighulyan got lost and was captured on Aug 7-8 night
