European Union is ready to continue the dialogue with Armenia, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian told media in the Parliament, Tuesday.
"We discussed the issue at the meeting with the Foreign Minister of Lithuania, the country presiding over the EU. We had a meeting with European Commissioner Stefan Fule and expressed desire to cooperate in all possible formats and in all possible ways. We are for close cooperation with the EU and further progress in our relations. We are ready to cooperate in all possible dimensions that will not run contrary to Armenia's accession to the Customs Union," the Armenian minister said.
He said that Brussels is also ready to continue cooperation. Responding to criticism by opposition parliamentarians who blamed the minister for giving no exhaustive replies to any of their questions, Nalbandian said that the oppositionists simply did not want to hear him out.
The meeting with the parliamentarians was initiated by the Parliaments over Armenia's intention to join the Custom Union and the upcoming initialing of the Association Agreement with the EU.
On September 3 in Moscow, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan confirmed Armenia's intention to join the Customs Union and the process of the formation of the Eurasian Union. Vladimir Putin supported Sargsyan's decision and promised to contribute to Yerevan's accession to the Customs Union in every possible way. Afterwards, the two leaders signed joint statements. The Customs Union has been created within the Eurasian economic space for trade and economic integration of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia on the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
