Tbilisi. The world recognizes Georgia's territorial integrity and statements of
de-factor authorities of Tskhinvali region are not interesting, Foreign
Minister of Georgia Maia Panjikidze stated on Friday, August 23.
On the eve of the fifth anniversary of
recognition of independence of South Ossetia (Tskhinvlai region of Georgia) by
Russia, de-factor president of the republic Leonid Tibilov gave the interview
to RIA Novosti agency, in which he stated "the relations with Georgia are
out of question". According to him, he does not believe that Georgia's
policy regarding Tskhinvali will change after the new authorities, headed by
Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili, have come to power.
"It was to be expected. You know that
the international community does not recognize independence of Abkhazia and
South Ossetia, it recognizes Georgia's
territorial integrity and sovereignty in conformity with international
standards. This is the world position and it is not interesting what
representatives of the separatist regions
state", Panjikidze emphasized.
