Republican Party of Armenia does not consider switching to parliamentary system of government, Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov told media after meeting of the ruling Republican Party's Executive Board overnight.
By the decision of President Serzh Sargsyan on September 4, a Committee was set up under the president to draft a package of Constitutional reforms. The package must be submitted to the president by April 20 2014.
"At least, there is no such issue on agenda," Sharmazanov said without specifying what particular issues the new committee will be engaged in.
Earlier, David Haroutiunyan (RPA), Head of the Parliament Committee for State and Legal Affairs, supposed that a package of Constitutional amendments, particularly, pursuing introduction of the parliamentary system of government, would be submitted to a nation-wide referendum shortly.
