The Nagornyy Karabakh is a serious threat to stability of Europe, and the world community has to take more effective steps towards settlement of the Karabakh conflict, the British analyst, director of the British NGO LINKS, Dennis Summut, said at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly's 86th seminar "Rose-Roth" on the topic "South Caucasus: Challenges and opportunities" that kicked off on Monday in Baku, SalamNews reported.
He said that the Great Britain looks surprised because of unsettlement of the conflict lasting for 20 years. The ceasefire regime is often broken, and the activity of the OSCE Minsk Group is considered to be senseless, as it gives no result, he said and added that it is necessary to take measures for the next meeting of the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan to result in adoption of important decisions for settlement of the conflict.
The expert also pointed at priorities of foreign policy of Baku, Tbilisi and Yerevan.
He also added that every country has its own priorities that differ from the priorities of the neighboring states, and unlike Russia, NATO and the CE respect their choice. The "cold war" between Russia and the West is a historical mistake, he said and added that at present Russia has been integrating in the processes developing in the world, and the problems should be resolved in different ways, including the "public diplomacy".
