Tbilisi. Georgian Foreign Minister, Maia Panjikidze, met with
Jean-Claude Mignon, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of
Europe (PACE) and briefed him in details on the situation in Tskhinvali region.

According to the Georgian Foreign
Minister, Russian border guards installed barbed wire fences in the vicinity of
Ditsi village, Gori district and Dvani village, Kareli district, bordering
Georgia's breakaway Tskhinvali region.

"Today, one cannot imagine holding a
meeting with someone, especially with the representative of the international
organization, without discussing the situation in the vicinity of the so-called
Administrative Boundary Line (ABL). I have briefed him and passed him the
EUMM's and our statements," Panjikidze stated after the meeting.

Besides, Georgian FM familiarized Mr.
Mignon with Georgia's new approach to the Council of Europe's work.

"We have discussed Georgia's new
approach to the work of the Council of Europe. I have stressed that our
approach will be constructive and Georgia will never try to get the CoE's work
into the deadlock, as we hope that our country will get more benefits through
this constructive approach. Mr. Mignon, in his turn, has reiterated the Council
of Europe's interest in the problem of frozen conflicts and stressed that his
visit has served that specific goal," Georgian Foreign Minister said.

Jean-Claude Mignon arrived in Georgia as
part of his South Caucasus trip, late on Tuesday. He will leave for Yerevan
(Armenia), on Wednesday, May 29.
