Tbilisi. The Georgian side through the Swiss Embassy in
Tbilisi has passed a protest note to the Russian Federation in connection with
unauthorized installation of the barbed wire in Tskhinvali region (so-called
South Ossetia) - Georgian Foreign Ministry spokesperson told BLACK SEA PRESS
reporter on Tuesday, May 28.
As Georgian Foreign Ministry reported
earlier, Russian border guards had installed barbed wire in the vicinity of
Ditsi village, Gori district and Dvani village, Kareli district, which border
Tskhinvali region (breakaway region of Georgia). Georgian MFA expressed its
indignation over the aforesaid and stressed that it was a violation of
country's territorial integrity.
Georgian Foreign Minister, Maia
Panjikidze, met with Philip Dimitrov, Head of the EU Delegation to Georgia and
briefed him on the situation in the region.
"What we can do at this stage is just
to make diplomatic steps and this meeting was among them. It aimed at
mobilizing the international support. We will continue acting in that direction
one of these days," Panjikidze told journalists after the meeting.
