Tbilisi. The hurricane on March 24 inflicted Georgia damage
amounting to GEL6 mln (approx. $3,6 mln), head of the Emergency Response
Headquarters, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Kakhi Kaladze stated on
Thursday, March 28.
Last Sunday a strong wind caused serious
problems almost in all regions of Georgia. Tens houses were damaged in Adjarian
Autonomous Republic, Gorii and Tbilisi, power transmission lines were also
damaged.
"Damage has increased by GEL1 mln and
totals GEL6 mln. There are ruined private houses in Mtskheta and Samegrelo.
Restoration works are underway, they will be finished in the nearest
future", Vice-Premier Kaladze stated at the sitting of the government.
He also told that a body of missing sailor
was found, he was lost during the storm in Adjara. Kaladze expressed condolences to the sailor's
family.
Assets for restoration works will be
allocated from the Prime Minister's Reserve Fund. Minister of Regional
Development and Infrastructure of Georgia David Narmania noted that coast
strengthening works would be carried out in Adjara, where the almost all
seashore zone was liquidated.
