Tbilisi. The participants of the 23rd round of Geneva
discussions confirmed the necessity of resumption of meetings under Incidents
Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) in Gali district of Abkhazia, Co-
Chairman of the talks Philip Lefor stated on Wednesday, in the evening, after
the meeting.   

Meetings in Gali district under IPRM have
not been held since April 2012 because of Sukhumi's position.  De-facto MFA of separatist authorities of
Abkhazia stated that the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia, headed
by Andrzej Tyszkiewicz. Was not disposed to carry out non bias monitoring and
assess objectively processes, threatening security. The Abkhaz side announced   Tyszkiewicz a person non grata on the
territory of Abkhazia.    

"The participants of the discussion
in the first working group confirmed the necessity to resume meetings under
Incidents Prevention and Response Mechanism in Gali", Lefor noted.

According to him, the participants of the
first working group also discussed issues 
of non use of force  and
international security guarantees in the conflict zone. The Co-Chairman of the
discussions noted that the second group focused 
on humanitarian issues, especially from the point of view of citizens'
free movement.

The participants made arrangement to hold
the next sitting  on June 25-26.

International Discussions on Security and
Stability in the South Caucasus have been conducted in Geneva since October
2008, on the basis of the agreements, reached between Russia and Georgia with
mediation of EU, UN and OSCE after the August war 2008.

The agreement on conducting pentahedral
meetings in Gali under IPRM was reached during the six round of Geneva
discussions  on July 1, 2009.
