Chief of General Staff of Armenian Armed Forces assures: transferred  territories are not territories of RA; remains silent about fate of  Jermuk

This was stated by Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Edvard Asryan on May 29 in a conversation with journalists in parliament, refraining from answering the question why Azerbaijani troops have not yet left the occupied territories of sovereign Armenia.

When asked whether the Armed Forces left their positions, Asryan  stated, "the Armed Forces do not leave their positions." In response  to a repeated question about whether the Armenian Armed Forces did  not have positions in this area, the head of the General Staff  indicated: "You are forcing me to ask not to voice such questions."

However, media representatives insisted whether there was a strong  point or position in the territories that were ceded to Baku, Asryan  replied: "The Armed Forces do not mark any position for defense, but  mark a perimeter, a section, a region, a strong point."

"We have various infrastructure in all directions. Border troops  carry out their assigned tasks in this area.  The army is there, the  army is not going anywhere. The border troops who serve are also  included in the area of responsibility of the army, where we are  ready to serve," he clarified.

To the remark that it turns out that only border guards are deployed  at the Kirants section, Edvard Asryan responded no. "Border guards  are on duty at the border, but in these areas the Armed Forces have  regular units that are ready to carry out the task assigned to them,"  he said.

The Chief of the General Staff insists not to ask him questions about  the "surrender of land." "I do not resolve issues of civil  infrastructure - houses, territories, land plots. Yes, I am sure that  the transferred territories are not the territories of the Republic  of Armenia," he pointed out.  When asked on what basis he asserts  this, Asryan replied: "I do not assert this, this is asserted by the  border, which is reflected on our maps."

Answering the question about why, in this case, the Azerbaijani Armed  Forces have not yet left the occupied territories of Armenia, in  particular, have not withdrawn troops from Jermuk, the Chief of the  General Staff called on the journalist to "take up arms yourself and  go with him..".
