ArmInfo. Armenia and France are deepening cooperation in the educational sphere. According to the press service of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MESCS), relevant documents were signed between head of the MESCS Zhanna Andreasyan and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia Anne Louyot.
In particular, the parties signed an agreement on the implementation of the French language assistant program in Armenia and a memorandum on the implementation of an additional Francophonie program and on in-depth study of the French language in high schools of the Republic of Armenia.
Within the framework of the program, French language assistants will be provided to Armenian schools where French is taught. Thus, the program will provide an opportunity for teachers and students to establish constant contact with native speakers of French, thereby increasing the level of language proficiency.
Zhanna Andreasyan stressed that the Ministry is currently implementing a number of reforms in the field of general education, one of the key areas of which is to improve the study of foreign languages. Expressing her gratitude to the French government for continuous assistance in the implementation of educational programs, the minister stressed that the signed documents will not only contribute to the deepening of language knowledge, but also the introduction of a system of civilized values.
Ambassador Louyot stressed that for her part, she is ready to support the initiative for in-depth study of the French language, as well as to promote the expansion of the programs presented and further cooperation. The parties discussed issues related to the development of opportunities for learning French in Armenian schools.
