ArmInfo.The parliamentary form of government in Armenia will be retained. The corresponding decision was made on November 30 at a meeting of the Council for Constitutional Reforms.
It should be noted that a joint meeting of the Council for Constitutional Reforms and the Professional Commission for the Reform of the Basic Law of the country took place today. On the agenda of the meeting was the issue of choosing a form of government. Masis Melkonyan, a member of the Council for Constitutional Reforms, presented the need for a transition to a presidential form of government. In turn, David Hakobyan, a member of the commission on constitutional reforms, pointed out the need to preserve the parliamentary form of government, presenting his justifications.
As a result of the meeting, the Council voted with 8 votes "for" with 1 "against" and 1 "abstention" in favor of maintaining the parliamentary form of government, advocating the improvement of this form of government.
