ArmInfo. Brussels has not given up on the idea of organizing a meeting between the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, France and the President of the European Council. According to a diplomatic source of RFE/RL in the European Union (EU), they are in contact with both sides to arrange a new meeting.
According to a diplomatic source of RFE/RL, "this is important" for President of the European Council Charles Michel, but a specific day of negotiations has not yet been announced.
Earlier, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that the meeting scheduled for December 7 in Brussels will not take place due to the position of the Armenian side. He stressed that "Pashinyan agreed to meet only with the participation of French President Macron. This means that the meeting will not take place," the President of Azerbaijan said, adding that France can no longer participate in the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace process due to engaging in "anti-Azerbaijani biased positions".
In response, Yerevan stated that it was ready for these negotiations in the same format. In addition, Ambassador-at-Large Edmon Marukyan said on his Twitter today that " Azerbaijan agreed in Prague to continue the meetings in a quadrilater format. It's logical that the format of the meeting and composition of participants must be the same. Therefore we hope that the meeting will take place in Brussels together with Emmanuel Macron and Charles Michel."
