ArmInfo.Being in constant working contact with the CSTO, I realized that there is concern in the Organization that public sentiments could lead to Armenia losing the CSTO. However, there is concern about another issue - that the CSTO will lose Armenia. The situation is very complicated, and what I said is not a simple word game, because a clear political assessment of the situation is necessary.
This idea was expressed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in an interview with the Public Television of Armenia. He noted that he spoke at the CSTO and is ready to say the following publicly: "When we discussed the issue of security with them earlier, the CSTO, as an institutional organization that ensures the security of its members, stated that the borders of Armenia are a "red line" for the CSTO. Now, talk has begun that the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan has not been delimited or demarcated. But there is a CSTO belt of responsibility. Otherwise, if there are no borders - there is no responsibility - there is no CSTO. If you look at it this way, then the border between Russia and Belarus is not delimited, just like between Russia and Azerbaijan. There are also non-delimited borders within the CSTO's belt of responsibility. "But our approach is unequivocal: in December 2001, when the CIS was established, these borders were accepted by all members and they were received international recognition and became the state borders of countries," the prime minister stressed. Pashinyan noted that the day before he met with CSTO Secretary General Zas, who presented the conclusions of the monitoring mission, on which the Armenian side made its comments and suggestions. .
