ArmInfo. The capital of Belarus today hosted a trilateral meeting of the Prosecutor Generals of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan - Artur Davtyan, Igor Krasnov and Kamran Ali.
According to the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office of Armenia, the parties discussed the possibility of finding new opportunities to resolve existing humanitarian and legal issues that have arisen as a result of the war unleashed against Artsakh, within the competence of the prosecutor's offices of the three countries. Issues related to the implementation of the agreements reached during the two previous meetings with a similar agenda were considered.
The parties stressed the need to maintain the trilateral format as an effective platform for continuing legal contacts in the region to ensure stability, rule of law, de-escalate the situation, protect fundamental human rights and ensure security.
In this regard, the maintenance of the ceasefire regime was emphasized. The persistent subsequent efforts of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation - personally Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov - to fully comply with the humanitarian requirements of the tripartite statement of 10 November were appreciated.
RA Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan noted that, despite the agreement reached during previous trilateral meetings on incidents on the line of contact between the Armenian-Azerbaijani armed forces and on the mediation of the exchange of operational information on ongoing investigations, criminal violations of the ceasefire regime continue. As a result, new threats to the realization of vital rights have been created for the civilian population.
As an illustrative example, the RA Prosecutor General referred to the actions of the Azerbaijani armed forces in the direction of the village of Parukh, as a result of which 16 servicemen were killed and 16 were injured. Artur Davtyan stressed the need for a proper investigation of these actions in the village of Parukh, as well as other cases of gross violations of the ceasefire.
These realities also prove the urgent need to increase the efficiency of the operational exchange of information using the resources of the representatives of the Russian prosecutor's office deployed in Artsakh.
RA Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan specifically noted that the 8th point of the tripartite ceasefire declaration of November 10 was not fulfilled. He noted that the speedy return of 38 detained Armenian servicemen and civilians from Azerbaijan to their homeland is crucial for restoring confidence between the parties, establishing peace in the region and expanding security guarantees. In this regard, he stressed the importance of full implementation of the humanitarian requirements of the tripartite statement.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue negotiations through the mediation of the Russian side in order to resolve humanitarian issues in the shortest possible time.
