ArmInfo. A protest action of the Ukrainian community of Armenia was held in front of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Armenia in connection with the military invasion of the Russian Federation on the sovereign territory of Ukraine.
Despite the small number of participants in the protest action, the members of the Ukrainian community of Armenia who gathered near the building of the Russian diplomatic mission consider it important to support Ukraine "on the front where civilians can do it."
In a conversation with an ArmInfo correspondent, Elena Shevchuk, a participant in the peaceful rally, noted that today Ukrainians in Armenia are protesting the military intervention of the Russian Federation on the sovereign territory of Ukraine in this way. <We are for peace. We are for the Ukrainians to determine their own destiny and come out here to resist aggression, to show both Armenia and the world that the Ukrainians of Armenia support Ukraine. This is what I can do at the moment. This is my civic position>, she said. At the same time, the protester stressed that today Ukraine is forced to defend itself, and the measures of protection should be no less stringent than the measures of attack, but not by military measures, but by diplomatic ones. The peoples who should also support us for peace should come out and express their position," Shevchuk noted.
Another protestor, Alexander Olynsky, who moved to Armenia from Lugansk last year, noted that such actions should be held all over the world. <We, ordinary citizens who support peace, must go to such actions and show that if there are supporters of war, then there are also supporters of peace. And we need to fight for it at least like this awy>, he said.
During the protest, the leader of the European Party of Armenia Tigran Khzmalyan, who joined the protesters, stressed that their participation in today's initiative of the Ukrainian community is support for peace, truth and justice. At the end of the peaceful rally, those gathered near the Russian embassy sang the anthem of Ukraine and Armenia.
