ArmInfo.Nikol Pashinyan's policy on the principle of "whatever you like" leaves no room for giving an appropriate response to Alexander Lukashenko's statement. Independent analyst Saro Saroyan expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
"The Prime Minister of Armenia "perfectly", I would say, "diligently" performs the functions assigned to him. He silently and humbly fulfills all the requirements of Moscow, meets all the proposals coming from there. Armenia does not pursue its own foreign policy, the Armenian policy is derived from the policy of Russia. As long as such a situation exists, it seems to be problematic to develop an appropriate response to Lukashenko's attacks," he noted.
On February 7, in an interview with Vladimir Solovyov, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, commenting on the possibility of Armenia joining the Union State of Russia and Belarus, said that Armenia "has nowhere to go." " Do you think anyone needs them? They have seen. Nikol [Pashinyan] has seen it," he said. On February 8, Belarusian Ambassador Alexander Konyuk visited the Armenian Foreign Ministry in this regard.
According to Saroyan, the tools and mechanisms for forming responses to such statements by the Belarusian president are conditioned by the formation and implementation of a truly independent, sovereign, and not declarative policy by Yerevan. The latter presupposes clear goals and actions.
At the same time, the analyst stressed that Lukashenko's statement did not refer only to Armenia, but also to other countries of the post-Soviet space. "I consider his statement in an interview with Solovyov in the same context and within the framework of a single logic with all other his statements. Lukashenko calls to order all countries that may not understand what is actually happening in the post-Soviet space today and where the latest geopolitical impulses lead and what is their role in them," the analyst summed up.
