ArmInfo.Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan considers the public threats of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to be a "mirror reflection" of Armenia's statements. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on January 24 during an online press conference, answering questions from the media and public organizations about whether official Yerevan intends to recognize the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and how realistic it is to establish peace in an environment of Baku's aggressive rhetoric.
On January 12, Aliyev, in an interview with Azerbaijani TV channels, said: "We do not want a third war, it is not in our plans. We want the war period to end; we want normal relations to be established, so that Armenia finally recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. We want this. But if we see that, as I said, there is a threat to us, this threat will be destroyed on the spot."
Commenting on this statement, Pashinyan urged to distinguish between rational and emotional aspects in these statements. "During one of our recent discussions, one analyst made a very important observation. He drew attention to the fact that Azerbaijan often makes mirror statements that were heard in Armenia after 1994. In particular, after 1994, such expressions were heard from Armenia and Artsakh, as "the issue of Artsakh has been resolved", "Baku is an Armenian city". Now Azerbaijan is doing the same. I mean, there is an element of revenge in these statements, which, I hope, is an emotional circumstance," he said.
Regarding the recognition of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, Pashinyan pointed out that the process was carried out back in 1992.
