ArmInfo.Armenia has not yet received a written response from Azerbaijan to the proposal to de-escalate the situation on the border. Armen Grigoryan, head of the Security Council of the Republic of Armenia, told reporters during a briefing on January 20.
He clarified that the package of proposals concerned mainly the creation of conditions for the delimitation and demarcation of borders. In particular, as Grigoryan continued, we are talking about an equal withdrawal of troops and the deployment of border guards along the border in accordance with Soviet-era maps.
At the same time, he also indicated that if the settlements are located near the border, then the border troops should be deployed in the immediate vicinity of the villages.
On January 19, during the parliamentary hour, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said that Armenia, through the mediation of Russia, had submitted to Azerbaijan a package of proposals aimed at de-escalating the situation on the border.
