ArmInfo. Armenia's Parliament approved, at the first reading, a bill on free provision of textbooks to children attending both government-funded and private primary schools.
The bill was introduced by the Civil Contract parliamentary faction.
The author of the bill Sisak Gabrielyan of the Civil Contract faction stated that 150,000 children attend government-funded primary schools, and 4,000 attend private schools. Under law, junior schoolchildren are to be provided with textbooks free of charge, and the bill is expected to end the discrimination (government-funded v. private schools).
