ArmInfo. Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with newly appointed NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Central Asia Javier Colomina in Yerevan.
As reported by the press service of the RA MFA, the interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the level of political dialogue between Armenia and NATO. Mirzoyan pointed out the importance of the implementation of the Individual Partnership Action Plan as an effective tool for the development of cooperation between Armenia and NATO.
In turn, Javier Colomina noted that Armenia is considered a reliable partner of the North Atlantic Alliance.
The meeting touched upon the issue of permanent participation of Armenian peacekeeping units in international peacekeeping missions.
Javier Colomina thanked Armenia for participating in NATO peacekeeping operations.
Mirzoyan also stressed the importance of fulfilling the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 "Women, Peace and Security" and the implementation of the National Action Plan of the Government of Armenia in this regard.
During the meeting, issues related to international and regional security were discussed. The Armenian Foreign Minister drew the interlocutor's attention to the situation created as a result of the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh with the support of Turkey. In this context, he stressed the need for a comprehensive and long-term settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs. The parties also noted the importance of observing the principle of the non- use of force in settling disputes.
