ArmInfo. None of the member states of the Council of Europe has come up against a situation where three opposition MPs, without overcoming parliamentary immunity, would be detained. This is stated in the statement of the Armenia (Hayastan) bloc.
The report notes that MP from the "Armenia" bloc Artur Sargsyan, who had been illegally under arrest for months, was recently released.
"Yesterday at the central headquarters of the bloc a council meeting was held under the chairmanship of the leader of the alliance Robert Kocharian, in which Artur Sargsyan also took part.
It is noteworthy that in none of the member states of the Council of Europe was there a situation when three opposition deputies, without overcoming parliamentary immunity, would be detained.
Attaching importance to the fact that after a long illegal arrest Artur Sargsyan may start his MP activities, we, nevertheless, must emphasize that two more opposition MPs, Armen Charchyan and Mkhitar Zakaryan, continue to remain under illegal arrest in a shameful way.
During these months, our actions have been and will be long lasting. We also cannot but state that these shameful iniquities are taking place in the conditions of silence of international structures, "the Bloc assured.
