ArmInfo.Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on July 26 at the office of the party in power "Civil Contract" meets with newly elected lawmakers of the Civil Contract of the parliament of the 8th convocation.
Hrachya Hakobyan, a member of the Civil Contract, a lawmaker of the parliament of the 7th and already 8th convocations, and Pashinyan's brother-in-law, told reporters in front of the party's office that he was not aware of the agenda of the meeting. He did not rule out that the situation on the border with Azerbaijan will also be discussed.
To recall, the first sitting of the National Assembly of the 8th convocation will be held on August 2, during which the lawmakers will elect the President of the National Assembly, three deputy speakers, the counting committee, the standing committees of the National Assembly and their chairmen. The agenda also includes discussion of the draft law on changes in the structure of the government and approval of the government program.
Extraordinary parliamentary elections in Armenia were held on June 20. According to their results, the parliament of the 8th convocation will have 107 lawmakers: the "Civil Contract" party will have 71 mandates, the "Hayastan" bloc - 29, the "I Have Honor" bloc (Republican Party of Armenia and Arthur Vanetsyan's Homeland party - ed. note) - 7.
On July 22, before the start of the government session, Pashinyan declared that it was inadmissible to propagate violence and hatred. In this regard, he assured that the elected authorities are disposed for a constructive dialogue based on mutual respect and for the good of the country.
