ArmInfo.Armenia expects Azerbaijan to fulfill its written commitment to return prisoners of war, hostages and other persons held as soon as possible. This was announced on July 22 at a government meeting by acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
According to Pashinyan, the military-political situation in the Transcaucasian region remains tense. "Provocative actions and maximalist claims of Azerbaijan create new threats for the region, Armenia and Artsakh," the acting Prime Minister said.
According to Pashinyan, Russia plays a key role in ensuring security and stability in the region. According to him, joint group of the Armenian and Russian armed forces, as well as the peacekeeping mission of the Russian Federation in Karabakh, are of key importance in ensuring peace in the region.
At the same time, according to Pashinyan, the actions of Azerbaijan indicate that Baku wants to disrupt the implementation of the trilateral agreements of November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021, especially regarding the opening of communications and lifting the blockade from Armenia. "As before, Armenia considers the opening of communications very important and is ready to continue work in this direction," he added.
The acting Prime Minister once again stressed that the violation of the sovereignty of Armenia by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces is unacceptable. "We reaffirm the proposal to resolve the crisis through a mirror withdrawal of troops on the Sotk-Khoznavar line and the deployment of Russian peacekeepers and (or) international observers, which will create the necessary conditions for border demarcation and delimitation," he said.
