ArmInfo.Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov met today with the chief of the Izmir-based NATO Ground Forces Command Metin Tokel.
Hasanov spoke about the "successful development of relations between Azerbaijan and NATO", the activities of the national army in the framework of various programs and the contribution of Azerbaijani military personnel to the "Resolute Support" mission in Afghanistan.
According to him, the main goal of cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO in various fields is to eliminate instability, conflicts and threats in the Euro-Atlantic space, and to create a single security system on a global scale.
Tokel, for his part, noted that the alliance considers Azerbaijan to be its reliable partner. He highly appreciated Azerbaijan's participation in the fight against terrorism and its significant contribution to ensuring cargo transportation for peacekeeping operations, including the high professionalism of Azerbaijani peacekeepers in Afghanistan.
The parties exchanged views on a number of other issues of mutual interest, Turan reports.
