ArmInfo. The head of the "Hayastan" ("Armenia") bloc, the country's second president, Robert Kocharian, intends, if he wins the upcoming parliamentary elections, to restrict or ban the activities of the structures of the Soros Foundation in Armenia, financed by the American businessman George Soros. He stated this in response to a relevant question at a meeting with voters in the city of Berd, Tavush region.
"There are laws, including in Western countries, which strictly prohibit external financing in case of dealing with such issues," Kocharian said.
According to him, he intends to seek the formation of an appropriate legislative field, after which either strict restrictions or a ban on the activities of such organizations will be introduced. As the former president explained, there are two models: the first prohibits the activities of such organizations, the second forces them to admit that they are foreign agents. "If you they are ready to act under the" billboard "of a foreign agent, then they will be under the control of the state," the candidate for prime minister of Armenia stated.
In September 2020, in an interview with RBC TV channel, the second president of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, said that he was worried about the "sorosization of Armenia". <The question is not in Soros himself, he has become a household term. But I can see what's going on here. Imposing values on the younger generation, from which the component that is a feature of our identity is rooted out - family, faith. There are talks about the eternity or non-eternity of allies, the demonization of some countries. If this was previously done at the level of marginal, non- governmental organizations, now their representatives have entered the government. I didn't even know that there is Soros office in Armenia. Their creeping penetration into the country took place. They were a marginal organization, not influencing any process, and now they are very active. I was surprised that they have grown so strong in recent years, "the second president of Armenia emphasized.
