ArmInfo. On February 25, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian made an appeal for restraint and common sense.
"Today, when we have not yet overcome the consequences of the Artsakh war, when we have thousands of victims and wounded, when there are serious regional threats, we, unfortunately, are again in an extremely explosive situation, which is fraught with unforeseen consequences for our state and can lead to non-recoverable losses. There is a martial law in the country. The external danger is real: the announcement of a ceasefire is not a peace treaty. Artsakh and Armenia face many problems. I call on everyone - state bodies, law enforcement agencies, political forces, all citizens - to show restraint and common sense. Every thoughtless word or action increases tension and deepens the crisis, "the RA President said in a statement.
Armen Sarkissian urged not to succumb to provocations, to refrain from appeals to hatred and intolerance. "Our people cannot afford a split, any attempts to destabilize the state or endanger the statehood should be rejected. It is necessary to act exclusively in the framework of Constitution. Confirming the role of the institution of the president, I urgently take steps to defuse tensions and find ways to peacefully resolve the situation. The shattering of statehood would be insulting the memory of thousands of our compatriots who died in the war. I call on all of you to be vigilant, sober and restrained, "the RA President's statement reads.
