ArmInfo. As a result of the demarcation of the borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan, not only the airport, but also the entire city of Kapan was under threat. Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan stated this during a press conference.
Tatoyan noted that the office of the Ombudsman of Armenia carried out research on the airport runway in Kapan, and came to the conclusion that the airport is under direct threat. Moreover, the interstate road from Yerevan to Kapan is also under threat.
"In some places, the new border runs through the houses of Armenian citizens. There are problems with the highways Kapan-Chakaten, Shikahogh, Sirashen, Nerkin KHand and Tsav. These roads are of vital importance for the inhabitants of these settlements. Azerbaijani flags are already hung and armed people are standing on the road sections connecting these settlements, "Tatoyan noted.
The Ombudsman stressed that as a result of the demarcation of the borders, the lives of people living in the villages of Khoznavar, Khnatsakh, Nrnadzor and Agarak were at risk. Also, the threat hung over the property of these people.
"The psychological and physical integrity of our compatriots was under threat. Anti-Armenian propaganda in Baku continues to gain momentum. Our compatriots are in danger, these issues need to be urgently addressed, "Tatoyan noted.
The Human Rights Defender noted that a number of Armenian territories in the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions passed to the enemy. This deprived a number of citizens of the opportunity to make their living, which grossly violated their right to property.
"In particular, 11 houses in the village of Shurnukh were transferred to Azerbaijan. In the Tegh community, about 2,000 hectares of territory were given, and in Vorotan, 236 hectares of territory were passed to the enemy. Some of the gardens in Vorotan were built on the territory provided by the local authorities, but it was also given to the enemy. In the village of Yeghvard, 160 hectares were given, in Chakaten 55 hectares, and in Agarak about 60 hectares of land.
Similar problems also take place in Gegharkunik. I believe that the leadership of Azerbaijan is obliged to pay compensation to these citizens. I have already discussed this issue with the representative of Armenia to the ECHR and we intend to give this issue a legal form ", concluded Tatoyan.
