ArmInfo.Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has repeatedly drawn attention to the fact that the November 9 statement does not mention the corridor connecting Azerbaijan with Nakhichivan. This was stated by the Spokesperson of the Prime Minister of Armenia Mane Gevorgyan, commenting to Armpress on the statement of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the Nakhichevan corridor.
Gevorgyan, in particular, stated that the road through Meghri will not be opened unilaterally. The Spokesperson noted: "In particular, point 9 of the statement concerns the unblocking of the transport and economic infrastructure in the region, and in this context, it is also possible to establish a transport connection between the eastern part of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Armenia, of course, is interested in the possibility of transporting Armenian goods through the territory of Azerbaijan to the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran and back. We are interested in the possibility of opening road and rail links for Armenian cargo with Russia, as well as with Iran. In this context, naturally, Armenia is ready to provide communication between the eastern part of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. However, a full discussion of these issues would be difficult without the full implementation of Clause 8, the tripartite agreement of November 9, which envisages the exchange of bodies of war prisoners and those captured.
The Armenian side also considers it extremely important to expand search and rescue operations in the combat zone. Azerbaijan's recent statements on this matter are perplexing and call into question Baku's commitment to implementing the November 9 statements. There are still captive Armenians in Baku, and there is also numerous evidence of cruel and humiliating treatment of them. There is evidence of executions of prisoners, and all of this evidence requires a thorough investigation, including in international courts.
At the same time, anti-Armenian propaganda in Azerbaijan has continued over the past decade. It is necessary to stop provocative actions and statements in order to establish stability and peace in the region>.
To note today, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said that he intends to create a corridor connecting Nakhijevan with the western part of Azerbaijan, which was positively received by the presidents of Russia and Turkey. According to him, the opening of the transport corridor will lead Nakhijevan out of the blockade.
