ArmInfo. The program to solve the housing problems of residents of the Spitak earthquake should be completed by the end of 2020. Tanya Arzumanyan, head of the Department of Housing Policy and Communal Infrastructures of the State Committee for Urban Development under the Government of Armenia, said this at a press conference on December 7.
According to her, this program refers to people who have been recognized as beneficiaries since 2008 and are included in the lists of those in need. As a result of studying the packages, 5406 families were recognized as beneficiaries. it the number may change to some extent due to families who have applied to the court to restore their right to housing. The beneficiaries of this program are residents of Lori, Shirak and Aragatsotn regions. In 2008- 2017. out of 5406 families, the problems of 4838 families were solved in two directions: housing construction and the provision of housing certificates. In 2019, 560 million drams were allocated from the state budget of the country to solve this problem, and the housing issue of 61 families was started. It was planned to complete the construction of 31 houses, but for objective and subjective reasons, this process was not completed. In the fall of 2019, it was decided to solve the problems of the beneficiary families through a written survey. In 2019, 1.29 billion drams were allocated from the Government's Reserve Fund to solve the housing problems of families who chose material assistance as a solution to their housing issue. Thanks to this, the housing issue of 227 families began.
The head of the department also said that the final stage of the program started in 2020, mainly for those families who after a written survey, they chose the option of building apartments. In this direction, 3 billion drams have been allocated from the state treasury. In general, as the head of the department noted, over the past 3 years, about 5.3 billion drams have been allocated to provide housing for people who need to improve their living conditions.
