ArmInfo. Everything possible must be done to expedite the process of exchange of prisoners of war and bodies of those killed as well as to search for missing citizens. Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Avinyan stated this during a meeting with the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), headed by Martin Schuepp, ICRC Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia.
As reported by the press service of the government, Avinyan stated that Armenia proposes to apply the principle of "all for all" during the exchange of prisoners. It was proposed to create a mechanism according to which, in the event of new prisoners being discovered, each of the parties undertakes to return them without preconditions.
In turn, Martin Schuepp emphasized that an effective dialogue has been established between Armenia and the Red Cross. In this regard, he stressed the importance of cooperation with the interdepartmental committee dealing with the issues of prisoners of war, hostages and missing persons. According to the source, the parties also touched upon the humanitarian situation in Artsakh from the point of view of providing necessary assistance to citizens affected by the hostilities.
