ArmInfo.Armenia intends to purchase 300,000 doses of coronavirus vaccines in mid-spring 2021. RA Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan stated this on November 26 at a government session.
According to him, purchases will be made from an international platform, on which 180 countries of the world have already registered.
The purchase will be made from those applicants who register their products, which are acceptable in terms of price and efficiency, before anyone else. Currently, we are talking about 10 applicants, mainly representing companies from Russia, the USA and Europe. The minister noted that, if necessary, the volume of purchases of vaccines will be increased. Basically, they will be aimed at patients with chronic diseases, elderly citizens, medical personnel and people working in closed rooms.
This category of citizens is 10%, and accordingly, the number of vaccines at the first stage will be limited to 300 thousand doses. Arsen Torosyan stressed that currently the situation with coronavirus in Armenia continues to remain relatively stable. Over the past day, 1785 new cases of morbidity were recorded against 1563 days earlier. Compared to the data three weeks ago, there is hope for some stabilization of the situation.
The republic's medical institutions already have a sufficient number of beds to treat patients. There is no longer a need to abandon inpatient treatment for critically ill patients who need hospitalization. It is hoped that this trend will continue over the next few weeks. He noted that preparations are now underway for the winter season, during which a slight decline in the epidemic is possible, after which its next outbreak is not excluded. Note that over the past day, 1,785 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Armenia. There were 4.383 tests performed.
In general difficulties, 130,870 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the republic, 103,055 people recovered, 2,068 died, plus 28 over the past day. There were also 519 deaths recorded, plus 6 over the past day, when patients were confirmed coronavirus infection, but death occurred due to other diseases. There are currently 25,228 patients receiving actual treatment.
