ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who signed an agreement to end hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh, may resign in the very near future. Such a forecast in an interview with "Gazeta.Ru" was made by the first deputy chairman of the State Duma committee for CIS affairs and relations with compatriots Konstantin Zatulin.
"The current prime minister is in a very difficult situation. His days as the leader of the country are practically numbered. Weeks earlier, responsible politicians had already talked about the need to transfer power to the military. Pashinyan turned from a winner and popular leader during the years of the Velvet Revolution to a very unpopular figure," he said. According to Zatulin, both sides of the conflict are not satisfied with the agreements reached. "An agreement on the cessation of hostilities is a necessary measure for both sides. Azerbaijan counted on more and was developing its offensive with the help of Turkey, while Armenia suffered a military defeat and lost the previously occupied regions, "the lawmaker concluded. The day before the presidents of Russia, Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia signed a joint statement on the complete cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. According to the document, the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides will remain in their positions, and Russian peacekeepers will be deployed in the region.
