ArmInfo.Armenia and its top political leadership these days are demonstrating to the centers of power its ability to negotiate and fulfill taken obligations. "Do not be hysterical", when faced with inadequacy of alleged partners and allies, do not sink to their level.
Famous Armenian political scientist, director of the Ashkharh Center for Strategic Research Hrachya Arzumanyan shared this opinion on his Facebook page.
According to the analyst, Armenia demonstrates its maturity as a country, society and people, and after the war, many will want to have such an ally. An ally who knows how to fight, fulfill its obligations and does not go out to the international "market square" with shouts and showdowns when discovers that "a friend turned out to be neither friend, nor enemy", the most trashy scenario, by the way. At all times these were extremely rare and valued qualities, and we have them.
We just need to bring this war to an end, in the next one it will be incomparably easier for us - in every sense. We will certainly not be alone, like this time.
Arzumanyan emphasized one more important point. Armenia and the Armenian people need to realize that the Moscow Treaty no longer exists. It sounds a little unexpected, but if you think about it, it becomes obvious. Yes, Erdogan proposes to Russia to conclude a new treaty, which secures his rights to the Caucasus, but the train, in fact, has already left the station, and the Caucasus will no longer be only Russian or Turkish.
Turkey, having invaded the Caucasus, destroyed the treaty of peace and friendship with Russia signed in 1921, just as once the leader of another nation and a failed world empire violated another peace treaty, which launched the Great Patriotic War of the Russian people. The difference is that this time the Patriotic War is waged not by the Russian, but by the Armenian people, since Russia did not come to the war after the Moscow Treaty was torn and thrown away.
Armenia and the Armenian people are not the one to be addressed the question to what extent this corresponds to the current and future interests of Russia. We are fighting for ourselves and our goals, which objectively coincide with the interests of the Russian people and its state, but this is just a coincidence, nothing more. These are different wars by Russia and Armenia, although they are unfolding in the same theater of operations in the Caucasus. This happens quite often when peoples each wage their own war within the framework of one. Erdogan will try to drag Russia into the war, and the latest statement about his readiness to enter the conflict openly with Turkish troops, not just planners, jihadists, advisers, etc., is the message addressed not to Armenia, but to Russia.
In our case Turkey is already at war and this statement has no sense. What decision Russia will make, I, of course, do not know, but for Armenia and the Armenian people a more acceptable scenario is when Russia refrains from being directly involved in the war. This becomes quite obvious, as it expands the space for maneuver and possible decisions of Armenia and the Armenian people - after the current war.
In the post-Soviet period, we had only one ally and this created a strategic and even existential problem. After the war, we will have many allies, I can already see that, - said the analyst.
Arzumanyan emphasized the courage and correctness of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan. "Yes, he can and even loves to act as an orator, but at the same time he was able to say in a calm voice, without emotion that there is no diplomatic way to resolve the conflict at this stage. Being under very tough pressure from the centers of power, he managed to calmly call things by their proper names, and did not engage in verbiage, which for some reason is usually called diplomacy, although it has nothing to do with this art. Take my word for it that it was very, very difficult to withstand such pressure. I am glad that we have such a leader and we can forgive him other shortcomings, lack of experience, sophistication in international intrigues, etc., the analyst shared his opinion.
