ArmInfo. The whereabouts of Mikael Minasyan are being investigated by law enforcement agencies. On September 24, the Chairman of the RA State Revenue Committee Edward Hovhannisyan stated this to journalists.
According to him, a couple of days ago the court granted the petition of the SRC investigators to select arrest as a measure of restraint against Mikael Minasyan. At the same time, the court made a decision on another petition - on the arrest of Mikael Minasyan's manager, Leonid Arevshatyan. "The SRC has already disseminated information about the court session, I can not say anything more, since we are talking about the secrecy of the investigation," said the head of the Committee. Former Armenian Ambassador to the Vatican, son-in-law of the third RA President Serzh Sargsyan, Mikael Minasyan will be arrested. The corresponding petition of the investigator to choose a measure of restraint against Minasyan in the form of arrest was satisfied by the court of general jurisdiction of Yerevan. Two criminal cases have been initiated against Mikael Minasyan. In the first criminal case, Minasyan was charged as a defendant in a criminal case on illegal enrichment, money laundering and the inclusion of false data in the income tax return. Arrest was chosen as a measure of restraint against him. There is no exact information regarding his current location; Minasyan himself previously reported on Facebook about the initiation of more than 10 criminal cases against people related to him and his family.
Last fall, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan called on Minasyan to return to his homeland and answer questions from the Special Investigation Service. In particular, the talk was about the illegal, as the Prime Minister noted, privatization of a strategic facility in Lori region. According to media reports, this facility is the Dzoraget hydroelectric power station ("Dzora HPP"). Former head of the RA Defense Ministry Seyran Ohanyan, who is suspected of embezzling property in the amount of 1,046,400,000 AMD, is being accused in the criminal case concerning "Dzora HPP". The second criminal case in the SIS was initiated on the fact of exceeding official powers, which, by negligence, entailed grave consequences.
Earlier on her Facebook page, the Spokesperson of the Prime Minister Mane Gevorgyan stated that Minasyan had illegal shares in the Spayka company, the Shant and Armenia TV companies, the Yerevan Mall shopping center, the Zangezur copper-molybdenum plant, and a number of other companies. According to her, most of his share was sold in a hurry after the "velvet revolution", and, for example, the share in ZCMC, with obvious abuse of office and through dummy shareholders, was acquired by former director of the NSS Artur Vanetsyan. Gevorgyan also pointed out that Vanetsyan's father owns a company that has become a major cargo carrier of ZCMC. According to her, the Government also has information that Minasyan has a corrupt share in UCOM, and it is he who de jure is the owner of a part of the shares of the family of the former head of the SRC Gagik Khachatryan.
