ArmInfo. The newly elected judge of the Constitutional Court Yervand Khundkaryan said that he resigns from his powers as the head of the Cassation Court of Armenia. In his statement, Khundkaryan noted that, according to the law, there cannot be judges of the Constitutional Court and the head of the Court of Cassation at the same time.
"Thus, I would like to inform you that I am resigning as head of the Court of Cassation, as well as a member of the chambers of the civil and administrative chamber of the Court of Cassation. I am terminating my membership in the Union of Judges of Armenia, at the same time I resign from the post of chairman of the union. I am resigning from the post of Chairman of the Board of the RA Academy of Justice and a member of the Board, "Khundkaryan emphasized.
The latter also noted that he is grateful to the General Assembly of Judges for nominating him for the position of judge of the Constitutional Court, and to the Armenian parliament for their confidence. The oath of the newly elected judge of the Constitutional Court took place today in the National Assembly of Armenia. "I will try to prove that I deserve to be in this position and work in the sphere of constitutional law in Armenia. I will try to justify my compliance with this work not in word, but in deed, "he stressed. Note that on September 15 the Armenian parliament elected three judges of the Constitutional Court. Edgar Shatiryan, Yervand Khundkaryan and Artur Vagharshyan. Vagharshyan and Shatiryan took the oath yesterday.
