ArmInfo.. Independent MP Arman Babajanyan announced his intention to create a new political force. Babajanyan stated this from the rostrum of the parliament. The MP noted that he intends to create a party whose members will share his values and political ideas. He stressed that all those people for whom the revolution is not over yet can unite around this initiative.
To note, Babajanyan entered parliament from the "Bright Armenia" faction, but then announced his withdrawal from the faction, while he did not refuse the mandate and became an independent MP. Karen Simonyan, MP from the "Bright Armenia" faction, reacted to this statement of Babajanyan, who noted that Babajanyan should finally show integrity and return the mandate of the "Bright Armenia" faction. Let him participate in the elections on his own, receive votes and his own mandate. "If such adherence to principles is not demonstrated, it will turn out that this party, which has not yet been created, is in fact one of the Bright Armenia's satellites. A force formed on behalf of someone's instruction cannot be legitimate'', he stressed. It should be reminded that earlier the head of the Bright Armenia faction, Edmon Marukyan, applied to the CEC with a request to allocate an additional mandate to the faction, due to the fact that Babajanyan left the faction and declared himself an independent MP. "According to the results of the parliamentary elections in 2018, our faction received 18 mandates. As required by law, the opposition must have 1/3 of parliamentary mandates. And only a faction can be considered an opposition, according to the law, "Marukyan emphasized in his letter. However, the CEC did not agree with Marukyan's position. The head of the CEC Tigran Mukuchyan stated that the CEC can provide the factions with new mandates only if there is a vacancy.
