ArmInfo. The first mort house, designed for organizing autopsies for especially dangerous infections, was overhauled and put into operation in Armenia. According to the RA Ministry of Health, the mort house meets all international standards.
The building of the mort house of the Kotayk regional branch of the Scientific and Practical Center of Forensic Medicine is equipped with modern equipment. It consists of two separate autopsy rooms, complete with one-section and three-section tables. One of the premises is intended for autopsy for the purpose of forensic medical examination of the bodies of persons who have died from especially dangerous infections, including coronavirus disease. These rooms have separate entrances, ventilation systems that are not connected to each other, and the infectious room is also equipped with a special supply and exhaust ventilation system and HEPA filters.
The mort house building has two separate entrances for receiving corpses, two separate multi-chamber refrigeration systems with electric taps for storing corpses of persons who died from infectious and non- infectious diseases, as well as a separate entrance for citizens and staff. The offices of the medical staff are isolated from the morgue. Recognition of corpses is organized by means of a special system using video cameras and remote communication. To recall, earlier, according to the amendments made to the RA law "On medical care, public services", a ban was introduced on the pathological and anatomical autopsy of the bodies of those who died from the coronavirus, since this procedure should be carried out in special morgues that meet the standards for the autopsy of infectious corpses. The corresponding construction work of the above morgue began in Armenia in April.
