ArmInfo. The state of emergency in Armenia will be extended until August 12. A similar decision was made by the Armenian government at a meeting on July 13.
During the meeting, Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan noted that the circumstances that served as the basis for declaring a state of emergency on March 16, 2020 have not yet been eliminated. <I want to introduce a government program, according to which it is proposed to extend the state of emergency by 30 days, that is, until August 12, 2020. We are extending the state of emergency for the fourth time>, - Badasyan emphasized.
The Minister noted that the project also has some changes. <In particular, improvements were made in connection with the self-isolation regime. The decree on self-isolation is given orally, however, if the person who is to be isolated wants it, he can receive this decree in writing. Also, changes were made in the situation with violation of the regime of self-isolation. An exception should be made and people who visit a medical center or laboratory as prescribed by doctors> should not be held accountable, "Badasyan emphasized.
In his turn, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the emergency mode is the most effective way in emergency situations in Armenia. If the emergency regimen is not extended, our anti-epidemiological system will fail de jure. And this is the reason that we are forced to extend the state of emergency. We understand that it is impossible to extend this regime forever, and there is nothing to it. Therefore, since last month we have been developing a legislative draft, according to which it will be possible to introduce not a state of emergency in the country, but an emergency. The emergency will be less severe and the restrictions will be less, they will be aimed specifically at combating the epidemic. We did not begin to develop this project earlier, since we did not think that the pandemic would last so long>, the Prime minister noted.
