ArmInfo."We will support the Prosperous Armenia Party initiative to create a commission of inquiry in connection with the coronavirus epidemic, but with one precondition - the lawmaker from our faction should head the committee," Edmon Marukyan, head of the Bright Armenia parliamentary faction, told reporters.
According to the lawmaker, three investigative commission work in the parliament. One is headed by a lawmaker from the My Step faction, two other commissions by lawmakers from the PAP. "Thus, it will be fair if the representative from the Bright Armenia Party will head this committee," Marukyan stated.
The head of the PA stressed that earlier he also took the initiative on the need to create such a commission. ''We talked about this a month ago, after which the former head of the NSS, Artur Vanetsyan, made a similar appeal to parliamentary forces. And today, the PAP comes up with a similar initiative>, said Marukyan.
The lawmaker also said that he himself expressed doubt about how expedient it would be to create this commission due to the fact that the parliamentary majority are representatives of the "My Step" bloc. However, nevertheless, the need to create such a committee is growing day by day.
"There are two monitoring options, either after the end of any events, mentally return to the past and recall all the details of past events, or monitor the situation every day and record all changes. We are on the second path. If we take the initiative to create a commission of inquiry, it will be created in September", the lawmaker concluded. It should be noted that the Prosperous Armenia faction took the initiative to create a commission of inquiry, which will investigate all the events related to the coronavirus epidemic. Including the commission will study how the funds raised for combating the epidemic were spent.
