ArmInfo. The Prosperous Armenia Party intends to appeal to the Constitutional Court and challenge the decision of the commandant's office to ban peaceful assemblies. The Deputy Speaker of the Parliament from the Prosperous Armenia Party Vahe Enfiajyan stated this during the briefing.
He noted that after the authorities began to repress the leader of his party, Gagik Tsarukyan, a number of PAP supporters, observing all anti-epidemiological measures, decided to express their support to the party leader. <However, police officers used unlawful force against our supporters and also impeded the work of journalists. I do not understand why they did this >, Enfiajyan emphasized.
The Deputy Speaker emphasized that the authorities are responsible for the horrific situation associated with the coronavirus in Armenia.
According to Enfiajyan, today the PAP will come up with two initiatives: to propose the creation of a commission of inquiry, which will identify all those responsible for the fact that the situation with coronavirus in Armenia has led to such terrifying consequences, and secondly, turn to the Constitutional Court and challenge the decision of the commandant's office that during the state of emergency holding peaceful assemblies is prohibited in the country. In conclusion, he also urged the lawmakers from the Bright Armenia faction to join them in this legislative initiative. It should be noted that yesterday the Armenian parliament voted "for" the deprivation of the PAP head Gagik Tsarukyan of his deputy immunity and gave the green light to arrest the latter because of a number of criminal cases. Today, the court will consider the request for the arrest of Tsarukyan.
