ArmInfo. The situation with the spread of coronavirus in Armenia continues to be very tense. In the past two days, the number of people infected with the virus has exceeded 500 people per day. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan during a briefing on June 3.
<All this is very unexpected, since we have been discussing the security measures that the commandant's office has presented for a long time. And we are confident that their strict observance should lead to a decrease in the spread of infection. The reasons presented by the authorized structures did not satisfy me, and I turned to the public with a request through social networks to show the true reasons for such an increase in infection. And the reality that was revealed to me was terrifying. The fact is that a huge percentage of the population does not comply with the requirements of the commandant's office>, the prime minister said.
Pashinyan noted that it would be logical to bring certain charges to the police. <However, even during the 2018 revolution, I noted that there is a certain amount of work that the police are doing, and not a single power structure in the world can do more in this situation. If the majority of citizens do not comply with security measures, then the police are not able to restrain the process. Moreover, these security measures do not comply with different sectors of society. Secret weddings, engagements, birthdays and last calls were recorded>, the Prime Minister noted.
The prime minister also noted that he unraveled the reason why citizens behave in this way. <In 2020, despite the coronavirus pandemic, the number of deaths in the country decreased by 260 people compared to last year, and citizens hear about deaths much less often, and this affects their subconscious. The fact is that people who previously died from other diseases this year die from the coronavirus>, Pashinyan emphasized. According to the head of the Cabinet, the decrease in mortality is also due to the fact that many people as a result of the coronavirus were hospitalized and treated not only for the virus, but also for concomitant diseases.
<As a result of the help of our fellow citizens, we understood the full scope of our problems. I urge citizens to inform us through social networks of all violations that will be noticed. The police cannot cover everything and everyone, since a very large circle of people do not comply with the recommendations of the commandant's office. If coronavirus continues to spread at such a pace, the mortality rate in the country will increase many times over. We must cooperate with each other. We do not search for those responsible, we all make mistakes. However, the current situation forces us to reconsider our behavior and regain control over the situation>, the Prime Minister concluded.
